Material

qualityWood Materials

Top quality wood materials from sustainable sources and their premium workmanship guarantee unparalleled wear resistance as well as exceptional geometric and dimensional stability. These properties ensure high productivity and a long lifetime for your trays.

Long frame side Common hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), Ramin (Gonystylus bancanus) or Bamboo

Base Birch plywood or HDF (high density fibreboard)

short frame side Common hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) or Copper Beech (Fagus silvatica) or Bamboo

Frame

HornbeamCarpinus Betulus

  • The name “hornbeam” derives from the hardness of the woods (likened to horn). Hornbeams yield a very hard timber, giving rise to the name “ironwood”
  • Nearly white, clean timber
  • Used to construct carving boards, coach wheels and other products where a very tough, hard wood is required

Copper beech Fagus silvatica

  • Resistant to compression and splitting. Stiff when flexed
  • The wood’s hardness is ideal for making trays as well as workbench tops

Bamboo

  • Natural composite material with a high strength-to-weight ratio
  • Has long been used as scaffolding, even for skyscrapers

Base

Birch plywood Carpinus Betulus

  • Composite material. The alternation of the grain reduces splitting, expansion and shrinkage, providing improved dimensional stability, and makes the strength of the panel consistent across all directions. There is usually an odd number of plies, so that the sheet is balanced—this reduces warping
  • Used in many applications that need high-quality, high-strength sheet material
  • Used as a durable structural material, e.g. for wind turbine blades
  • Smooth surface and accurate thickness

Hardboard (HDF)high density fibreboard

  • Hardboard, also called high-density fiberboard (HDF), is similar to MDF, but denser, much stronger and harder because it is made out of exploded wood fibers that have been highly compressed
  • Unlike solid wood, hardboard is very homogeneous with no grain

Origin

quality.NATURAL, SUSTAINABLE AND HYGIENIC

wood Sustainably managed

  • Treiber Trays uses only premium wood materials from sustainably managed resources
  • The beech comes from Germany. The birch is chopped in the endless expanses of Siberia and the bamboo grows in China
  • All wooden trays come with a certificate

Natural product Guaranteed food safety

  • Wood is a food-safe, natural product
  • Its use rules out any risk of potentially hazardous glass fibers or plastic abrasion in the starch.

Easy disposalEnvironmentally friendly

  • The disposal of plastic trays is a difficult and expensive task and needs a recycling concept
  • In contrast, the natural product wood is easy to dispose of

Antibacterial propertiesOutstanding hygiene

  • Wood has a natural antibacterial effect
  • This originates from specific naturally active substances that help the tree to survive in hostile environments as well as the hygroscopic properties of wood
  • Numerous scientific studies have proven the outstanding hygienic performance of wood materials (e.g. Milling et al., 2005; Schönwalder et al., 2002)
